Challenge

The task was to execute a seamless and engaging virtual event that captivated students throughout the day in a manner that fostered innovation, community building, and education. The goal was to bridge academic research and practical industry applications in blockchain and FinTech in a manner that inspired attendees of the event to explore Entrepreneurship and relevant career paths.

Solution

The 3rd National HBCU Blockchain and FinTech Conference 2022 was executed on the Hopin platform, enabling multiple HBCUs to contribute through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops supported by dynamic visual layouts and integrated tools. Networking sessions connected attendees with peers, industry sponsors like Ripple, and potential employers, while the comprehensive programming featured speakers such as Ali Emdad, PhD, Director of The National FinTech Centre, and Lauren Weymouth, Director of Ripple, alongside HBCU faculty research presentations, blockchain project showcases, industry-led workshops, and a virtual raffle drawing.

Results

The Ressults

The conference attracted over 600 virtual attendees, including students, faculty, alumni, and industry leaders. Students joined from 17 countries across North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. This reach helped further position Morgan State as the hub for the Ripple University Partnership Program. Attendees remained highly engaged throughout the two-day conference, with an impressive average view time of 90% of the total event duration. Sponsors like Ripple, Deloitte, IMB, and Blockchain Association received an average engagement rate of 22% within their virtual booths. They also had the opportunity to connect with HBCU students interested in careers through networking sessions.

The 3rd National HBCU Blockchain and FinTech Conference 2022 reinforced Morgan State as a University shaping the future of FinTech education and innovation.
